ENG: By what you remember your first performance?

SRB: Po čemu pamtiš svoj prvi nastup?

ENG: I had my first gig at New Years Eve 2006/2007 at „Universo Parallelo“ Festival in Brazil. I was happy to play there, because I had never been to South America before. Back in the days, I used my Laptop to perform, but that was no good idea at all. It was too hot, and straight before my performance, the laptop shut down a lot of times. That made me very nervous. Luckily, during my performance everything worked out well. I had a lot of fun.

To me je učinilo veoma nervoznim.  Srećom, tokom samog nastupa je sve ispalo dobro. Bilo je baš zabavno.

ENG: How did you start with music production and which was the turning point that brought you to a place you’re in today?

ENG: When I was sixteen, I had a friend in school. He had a computer with one of the first cubase versions. (Cubase is a program to produce music, which I still use today) We „jammed“ a bit and I was fascinated very quickly of all the possibilities you have when you create music on your own. At First, I had no money to buy my own computer. But I had a playstation with the game ‚Music‘. That’s where I mixed my first own beats. I think a very important turning point in my career was, when I released the album „22“, two years ago. It was a very unusual thing, because it contains 22 tracks. Many people bought it and it got around real quick. That also was the point, when I became more famous in Germany. The special thing about the album was, that I kind of changed my style of music from that point. Beforehand, I only produced minimal techno, but with this production my new genre „High-Tech-Minimal“ was born.

ENG: Being chosen for "exclusive talent" in 2007 by the electronic music magazine raveline.de, how did this impact your career?

ENG: Of course, I was happy when I read about this, because I bought this magazine every month and I was a small fan of this journal. (In that time, this was the only magazine of electronic music in Germany.) But, to be honest, it had nearly no impact on my career, because as I said, the magazine was only represented in Germany. In the early years, nobody listened to my music in Germany, so it was of no interest.

ENG: How did you get to the point of making your own music genre?

ENG: I came to the point, because I didn’t want to be put in boxes anymore. People intend to put you in a box easily, because of the genre you play. I wanted to be identified with my own style of music. So I thought, It’s time for an own genre. That worked out very well.

ENG: What makes High-Tech Minimal so special to be characterized as a genre of its own?

ENG: It’s so special, because it can’t really be characterized as one certain thing. It has so many different influences of many genres mixed together. Such as, hard electronic basslines, soft melodies or minimal elements. All of them mixed together, with my personal touch, are forming the genre „High-Tech-Minimal“

ENG: We noticed that in video clips on your site you give music production tips, how interesting it is to share your experience with younger colleagues?

ENG: That’s a complicated thing. On one hand a musician, of course, tries to keep his secrets production-wise. But on the other hand, I always try to bring people music, and the production of music closer. I want the people to deal with the programs by themselves, but at first, they have to learn the basics. That’s something where I will always help.

ENG: How did you come to the idea of using a mask in your performances?

ENG: When I had my first gig in Brazil, I thought of typical Brazilian characteristics. The first thing I thought about, was the famous carnival of Rio de Janeiro, where nearly everyone wears masks. I came to the conclusion, that a mask would be something special to make my performances more extraordinary. Also a mask has a huge recognition value. So I looked around in the internet, and finally found a mask, which I classified as suitable.

ENG: How much did the mask help make your performance even more authentic?

ENG: I think music can be something very magical and mystic. The mask highlights this effect and suits very good to my sound. Besides that, it has a very good impact on the viewers when they see lights, visuals and my mask, kind of melting together with the music. I think that's what my fans really love.

ENG: Share with us the craziest or most interesting detail from one of your performances you remmember the most?

ENG: One of the craziest things I do remember very well was, when I had a gig in Germany this year and I was very drunk. (That happens very rarely) I was so drunk, that I played the same track three times in a row without recognizing. I think no-one noticed that ;). But even if, I think everyone is allowed to be a goof sometimes, as long as it not happens too often.

ENG: Why did you decide to create your own music label and what is the idea behind it?

ENG: First of all, I did not want to be limited in the decision of which tracks I release. When you have your own music-label, you are free in your choice and able to release whatever you want. Beside of that, I always had the dream to bring together all my best friends, who are also musicians, in one label. My colleagues Deniz Bul, Ann Clue, Theydream and me are forming the label „Fckng Serious“ together.

Moji kolege Deniz Bul, Ann Clue, Theidream i ja činimo etiketu "Fckng Serious".

ENG: The last album you released is "22" on FCKNG SERIOUS, are you preparing something new in your studio at the moment?

ENG: I have a lot of unreleased tracks in my pipeline. At first, I will release a Single EP this year, directly followed by a new album. Additionally I made a Remix for Jan Blomqvist a few weeks ago, which will also be released soon. So, there’s a lot of new stuff coming soon. BE PREPARED ! :)

SRB: Imam puno spremljanih neobjavljenih pesama. Dakle, dosta novih stvari uskoro. BUDITE SPREMNI ! :)

ENG: How long did you prepare the audio-visual Boris Brejcha Showcase and how do people react to it?

SRB: Koliko dugo si pripremao audio-vizuelni Boris Brejcha Showcase i kako ljudi reaguju na ovakav dogadjaj?

ENG: The idea came up 4 years ago. It took us approximately 2 years to plan it. There is a lot of work to do when you want to prepare something like that. We needed to find the right people to work with, who are matching us and our ideas. We needed to organize all the fitting technical stuff, and of course we had to try it out before. There are also so many bureaucratic things you have pay attention to. But the first showcase in Brazil in 2016 worked very well and we are still trying to improve it. The people’s reaction to the last Showcases was great, even though not everything worked blameless yet. I think nowadays, you have to offer people something different to stay in their minds. The people are getting more sophisticated with the time. We are trying to create a new style of performance on the electronic scene. But we still want to stay underground. It’s quite a challenge to reconcile everything.

ENG: You are coming for the first time on Exit Festival, and what are your expectations? You are coming to the best European music festival.

ENG: I have heard a lot of excellent things about the EXIT Festival. But I have made myself a rule. I never have any expectations, doesn’t matter where I go. I want to convince myself and experience it by myself, so I can also judge by myself.

ENG: In the end, what are your plans for the future and what would you say to your fans in Serbia that are coming to Exit Dance Arena?

ENG: We are planning a second „Fckng Serious Bus Tour“ through France, Spain and Germany. I really hope it will work out, because last time we had a lot of fun. Beside of that, I want to release a lot of new music as I said before, and I hope for another year with good music, amazing parties and cool people. Dear People in Serbia, Enjoy the festival, spread love, peace and happiness!

SRB: Planiramo drugu "Fckng Serious Bus Tour" kroz Francusku, Španiju i Nemačku. Dragi ljudi u Srbiji, uživajte u festivalu, širite ljubav, mir i sreću!
