2000. godine Sonique je bila najprodavanija elektronska muzičarka, a njen debitantski album Hear My Cry iznedrio je se dva bezvremenska dance hita.

Početak novog milenijuma je doneo talas optimizma na plesne podijume, a malo je traka koje su taj osećaj uhvatile tako precizno kao “It Feels So Good” i “Sky”. Sonique je 2000. godine postala globalna dance zvezda, a njen debitantski album “Hear My Cry” obeležio je jednu celu generaciju.

“It Feels So Good” originalno je objavljena 1998. godine, ali je pravi uspon doživela dve godine kasnije, kada ponovno izlazi i odmah ulazi na prvo mesto britanske liste singlova, gde ostaje tri nedelje. Traka završava godinu kao treći najprodavaniji singl u Velikoj Britaniji, sa više od 800 hiljada prodanih primeraka, dok paralelno osvaja i američko tržište, dostigavši osmo mesto Billboard Hot 100 listi.

Muzički, reč je o savršenom spoju čistog dance popa, klupske energije i zarazne melodije, dok iza teksta stoji jednostavna, ali iskrena emocija. Sonique je kasnije otkrila da je traka nastala iz neuzvraćene ljubavi, kao lična poruka da osećaji nisu bili vezani uz nečiji uspeh, već uz samu osobu. Druga strana albuma, emotivnija dublja i ličnija, donosi “Sky”. Traka je napisana u znak sećanje na Soniqueina sina, kojeg je izgubila u osmom mesecu trudnoće. To je bio događaj koji je sama opisala kao najteži trenutak svog života. Uprkos bolnoj pozadini, “Sky” je postala jedna od najljepših i najprepoznatljivijih dance balada tog razdoblja.

Objavljena u junu 2000. godine, traka „Sky“ dostigla je drugo mesto na britanskim top-listama, dok je u Hrvatskoj i Rumuniji dostigla prvo mesto. Njen refren, istovremeno melanholičan i uzdižući, savršeno je odgovarao duhu vremena u kojem je nastala.

Danas, više od dve decenije kasnije, obe trake i dalje žive punim pućima – kako u originalnim verzijama, tako i kroz moderne obrade.
