Interview with Marc Dosem / Intervju – Mark Dosem

ENG: For our first foreign interview we chose DJ who comes from Spain and his track “Beach Kisses” is one of the most played tracks at techno party’s. We present you Marc Dosem. He is comming at Belgrade club “The Tube” March29.

SRB: Za naš prvi inostrani intervju smo odabrali DJ-a koji nam dolazi iz Španije, a njegova traka “Beach Kisses” je jedna od najviše puštanih traka na tehno žurkama. Predstavljamo vam Mark Dosem-a koji nam ujedno i stiže u klub “The Tube” 29. marta.

ENG: Greetings from Serbia Marc, for start, can you introduce yourself to our audience in Serbia? How did your DJ career started?

SRB: Pozdrav iz Srbije Mark, za početak da se malo predstaviš našoj publici? Kako je poela tvoja DJ kariera?

ENG: After college, I made my own rave parties where I was playing as the main DJ and worked out so well, so I quickly got a residency opportunity at the biggest club in my city. I did the Warm Up sets for the international artists and that’s how I met Technasia. The rest is history. After that I signed for the techno asian label SINO and my life changed completely.

SRB: Posle koledza organizovao sam sopstvene rejv žurke gde sam ja puštao kao glavni DJ i trudio sam se mnogo, tako da sam uskoro dobio šansu da budem rezident DJ u najboljem i najvećem klubu u mom gradu. Radio sam setove zagrevanja za najbolje svetske zvezde i tako sam i upoznao DJ-a Technasiu, a ostatak je istorija. Posle toga sam potpisao ugovor za azijskim labelom “SINO” i moj život se promenio totalno od tog trenutka

ENG: Your track Beach Kisses(re-edition) from 2009. has been very popular in Serbia and the world, we can tell that she opened you the door of the best clubs and labels in the world? Do you expect that success from track and that it will become a huge hit?

SRB: Tvoja traka, Beach Kisses (re-edition) koju si izdao 2009.god je bila jako popularna u Srbiji kao i svetu, može se reći da ti je ona otvorila vrata najboljim klubovima i labelima? Jel si očekivao takav uspeh od trake i da će postati megahit?  

ENG: From the very first moment I’ve finished that song I knew I had something special in my hands. That track means a lot for me and opened a new world of opportunities as a DJ. One of the most interesting things was the track was played by many crossover Djs, from Trance to Techno.

SRB: Još od prvog trenutka kad sam završio tu traku znao sam da imam nešto specijalno u rukama. Ta pesma mi znači mnogo, ona mi je otvorila vrata ka svetu i mnogim novim poduhvatima koje donosi svet DJ-inga. Jedna od najinteresantijih stvari u vezi te pesme je daje puštana od strane tehno DJ-eva pa do trens izvodjača.

ENG: You Realesed your new album “Origin” for Tronic 18.02.2013, We have listened all the tracks and we can say that your music is a mixture of all genres of electronic music, from your native techno, to electro, house and progressive. Every track is different, where did you get your inspiration? What else can you tell us about the album?

SRB: Izdao si svoj album 18.02 pod nazivom “Origin” za Tronic, preslušali smo sve trake i može se reći da u njemu si zastupio sve žanrove elektronske muzike od tvog prepoznatljivog tehna, pa do electra, house i tribala. Kako si uspeo sve to ukomponuješ u jednu celinu?

ENG: Origin is the beginning of my journey to develop three albums with a timeless attitude. To demonstrate a past, present and future perspective on my sound through musical landscapes and inspired themes. This project represents a personal experiment seeking intimate collision between my musical influences from the past and the things I hear and perceive in the present moment. The intention is to try to create, in myself discovery, the basis of what will be my sound of tomorrow. For this project, I wanted to create an album more focused on the dance floor than my first album “Parallel”… capturing all the experiences I’ve had DJing around the world and bringing into it the new techniques and sounds I’ve been exposed to these last few years.

SRB: Album “Origin” je početak mog projekta da napravim tri albuma koji će imati bezvremensku notu. Da demonstriram prošlost, sadašnjost i budućnost sa nekim mojim zvukom. Ovaj projekat predstavlja lični eksperiment sa kojim pokušavam da nadjem neku intimnu vezu izmedju mog muzičkog iskustva i uticaja iz prošlosti i stvari koje čujem i opažam u ovom momentu. Namera da pokušam da napravim nešto će biti kao osnova mog zvuka koji ću producirati u budućnosti. A vezano za ovaj album hteo sam da napravim pesme koje će biti više fokusirane za plesni podijum nego moj prošli album “Parallel” … da spojim sva moja iskustva koja sam stekao dok sam gostovao svugde oko sveta i da unesem u njega svu tehniku i zvuk kojoj sam bio izložen proteklih godina.

ENG: Which track is your favourite on the album?

SRB: Koja ti je omiljena traka na novom albumu?

A Modern Ritual.

ENG: You get huge compliments from one of the greatest techo DJ Christian Smith, How did that cooperation of you two started?

SRB: Velike pohvale dobijaš od velikana tehno scene Christian Smith-a? Kako je počela vaša saradnja?

ENG: We met at the festival Klubbers Madrid two years ago and we had a great personal connection between both. We have very similar musical tastes and influences so the professional connection flowed naturally. He asked for some demos and I sent him “Origin” … from there it all started. Tronic exploded this last year with really big releases and I’m really proud to be part of that.

SRB: Mi smo se upoznali na festivalu “Clubbers” u Madridu pre dve godine i uspostavili smo fantastičan odnos. Imalo smo jako sličan muzički ukus i uticaj tako da smo po pitanju profesionalnih odnosa funkcionisali odlično i sve ostalo  je teklo prirodno. Pitao me je za neke demo trake da mu pošaljem i ja sam mu poslao “Origin”  … i tad je sve počelo. Tronic je eksplodirao prošle godine sa mnogim velikim izdanjima i ja sam stvarno ponosan što sam deo toga.

ENG: What is a day-off like for Dosem? What do you do?

SRB: Kako izgleda slobodan dan Dosem-a? Šta radiš?

ENG: Movies, hang out with friends… just conventional things, nothing special… anyways I’m always working!

SRB: Filmovi, druženje s prijateljima.. i tako neke stvari koje me opuštaju, ništa specijalno, a u stvari ja uvek radim!

ENG: On your facebook page we saw that this year you have started with appearances all over the world, is it  difficult to go from plane to plane and from city to city and so every weekend in a row?

SRB: Na tvojoj facebook stranici smo videli da 2013. godinu započinješ sa gostovanjima po celom svetu, jel ti nije teško da ideš iz aviona u avion, iz grada u grad i tako svaki vikend?

ENG: Yes, sometimes can be really exhausting. This month for example I do Hong Kong, Japan, Argentina and Serbia … many international flights and fatigue builds up in your body and mind. But I consider myself very fortunate to have the job I have, since I live from my passion.

SRB:Da, nekad stvarno može biti icrpljujuće. Na primer ovog meseca radim u Hong Kongu, Japanu, Argentini i u Srbiji … mnogo internacionalnih letova koji mi stvaraju psihički i fizički umor. Ali ja ipak sebe smatram vrlo srećnom osobom zato što se bavim onim što volim.

ENG: For the end, you are coming to Belgrade for the first time in the club “The Tube” at 29.march, what can we expect from you? Do you have any message for your fans in Serbia?

SRB:I za kraj 29.03. nam stižeš u Beograd u klub “The Tube”, šta možemo da očekujemo od tebe? Jel imaš nešto da poručiš tvojim fanovima u Srbiji?

ENG: I’m really looking forward to play in Serbia, I don’t like to prepare my sets, I just take all my music and let myself flow into the energy of the crowd….. I see you there!

SRB: Jako se radujem što ću puštati u Srbiji, ja ne volim da pripremam svoje setove, ja jednostavno ponesem svu moju muziku i prepustim se energiji publike… VIDIMO SE TAMO!
